FRAMING AND CARING FOR YOUR FINE ART PRINT OR REPRODUCTION
Every work of art is special and putting some effort into framing and hanging it well will ensure that you get the most pleasure from it for as long as possible.
Handling and Storage
Please be careful when handling your artwork. Try using clean cotton gloves, which are available in art stores. It is important not to touch the printed image directly with your fingers since oils from your skin can cause damage in the long term. To protect your investment and the integrity of the artwork, store it in a low-light and non-humid environment.
Framing
It is highly recommended that you have your artwork framed by a professional. Investing in quality framing materials will enhance the work's aesthetic value and promote its longevity. Ask for acid free mats and mount board. Acid free framing tapes should also be used. Standard clear tape and masking tape will deteriorate with age and may leave sticky marks. Frame your reproduction or print with a spacer or a mat between the paper surface and the glass. Using UV resistant glass is more expensive but will help block out harmful light rays.
Selecting a Hanging Location
Very humid environments can potentially cause discoloration, damage the paper, and promote mold. Therefore, steamy bathrooms are not recommended for displaying works on paper. Intense heat and direct sunlight can also be harmful and lead to discoloration over time. Artificial lights, at a minimum should be kept at a distance of about 12 inches away.
